Chargaux on Refinery29's Website

This past winter I had the opportunity to photograph the music duo Chargaux in Brooklyn, New York for Refinery29. Today I was so excited to see my images used on Refinery's website as they released the first part of their Sound Off video series. A big thank you to Refinery29, Chargaux and especially Julia Pitch for making this shoot happen.

My Desk For The Next Week

_JFS5007.jpg

Yesterday I drove the 1150 miles from Austin, TX to Asheville, NC. Today I am sitting on my friend Ben's porch in Asheville, journaling and working on my laptop as a midday rainstorm coming rolling through the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'll be here for the next week, and already I don't want to leave.

Food In The Studio

I've been hard at work doing some food photography in the studio this past week. Just wanted to share a little recap of what I've been up to.

Crickett The Hound

Welcome home little puppy!

She is only 8 weeks old and a big ball of fun. Liberty adopted Crickett from a farm outside Austin just last week. Her mama is a Redbone Coon Hound, but we don't know what kind of dog her dad is. She is a wild little thing when she's awake, and the cutest little cuddle-bug when she is sleepy. I am sleeping less and cleaning up messes more, never the less I am so happy and grateful to have Crickett as part of the family now.

Fresh Film from Summer Roadtrip

I finally had 6 rolls of medium format film from my roadtrip this summer developed yesterday. These images are fresh off the scanner (no editing). I'll be posting more of these images in the coming weeks and hopefully will have a series/ portfolio of this work by the end of March.

My First Roll of 120 Film

I was digging through my archives today and came across this image of my good friend and documentary filmmaker Tarek Turkey. It is from back in 2013 when Tarek and I took a trip up to NYC from Baltimore for fall break and I shot my first roll of 120 film. It was a roll of Kodak Portra 400 on my mom's Hasselbald 500c/m (the same model camera that first went to the moon in 1969). Despite it being 3 years since then, it still totally holds up to anything I would make now. Its really rare for me to feel this way about my old work. I guess I just love this image.
